WinZero Virtual Energy Pilot
What is the WinZero Virtual Energy Network Pilot?
The WinZero Virtual Energy Network (VEN) pilot is an innovative community-led initiative that’s changing the way we produce, share, and consume electricity. It connects local solar energy generators with neighbours and businesses through existing poles and wires—making it possible to share excess solar power right here in our community.
Using Enosi’s Powertracer software, solar producers can decide who receives their surplus energy and set a fair price. At the same time, households and businesses without solar panels—called offtakers—can choose to buy local, clean power instead of relying solely on big energy retailers.
Whether you’re generating more energy than you use or you’re looking for a more sustainable (and affordable) energy supply, the VEN makes it possible. It supports:
Cost savings for homes and businesses
More control of how your energy is sourced and shared
A stronger, cleaner local energy network
This is about energy made local—powered by community.
Why Join the WinZero VEN Pilot?
– For Solar Producers (Generators): Maximise the return on your solar investment by selling your excess energy at rates more favourable than traditional feed-in tariff
– For Consumers (Off-takers): Access locally generated solar energy at competitive prices, reducing your electricity bills and supporting the community.
How Does It Work?
Participation in the WinZero VEN pilot requires alignment with a specific energy retailer, “Energy Locals,” ensuring seamless integration and support throughout the pilot. Additionally, a “smart meter” is necessary for tracking and managing your energy usage and production, a service that Energy Locals can facilitate.

No Fees, No Lock-in
Joining the WinZero VEN pilot is free of contracts or hidden fees. Plus, there’s no obligation to stay if you decide it’s not for you.
Why Energy Locals?
They offer the most flexible and accommodating service for both residential and business customers in our area.
Privacy?
Your data is secure and used solely for enhancing the pilot experience. For more information, visit [Energy Locals’ Privacy Policy] (https://energylocals.com.au/privacy-policy/).
Do I need a smart meter?
Yes, to join the Virtual Energy Network, you’ll need a smart meter.
Smart meters measure your energy use and solar exports in real time—this is essential for tracking the flow of energy in and out of the network.
If you don’t already have one, Energy Locals can arrange installation for a one-off fee of $149. It’s usually a straightforward process to organise.
How is billing handled?
You’ll still receive a regular electricity bill from our energy partner, Energy Locals. It will show your energy trading credit.
