CHAIR OF WINZERO RESPONDS TO IPCC REPORT

THINGS WILL BECOME HOTTER

Southern Highlands, New South Wales, Australia., August 12, 2021 — IPCC REPORT LANDS IN WINGECARRIBEE

THINGS WILL BECOME HOTTER

Dateline: [SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS, NSW, AUGUST 12]:

The recently released IPCC report leaves no doubt that things will become hotter, drier and stormier as time goes on and temperatures rise.  This will impact on us all with more drought, bushfires and flooding.  Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale, and all of Wingecarribee shire is certain to feel the effects of climate change more intensely in the coming years.

Even in the face of such a dramatic report there is much the people of our Shire can do. But we have to act now.  As Boris Johnson recently said, “The only thing we lack is time.”

WinZero and all the environmental groups in the Wingecarribee are considering the report and deciding how best to respond. There is one thing they all agree on.

The Chair of WinZero, Colin Todd said “ Everyone needs to do what they can right now. If everyone takes some action big or small, then we can make a difference”. “You can volunteer some time, or you can make a donation to support the work of these organisations”.

“You can talk to family and friends and encourage them to act now. Finally and importantly you can make an informed decision about who to vote for in the various elections we have.  Check out the candidates and their response to the IPCC report and make your decision about who to vote for.” Colin said.
