Wingecarribee Shire Council to work with community towards net zero emissions

Council will form a Climate Change Advisory Panel to work with the community to tackle climate change. The decision was made by council at its most recent meeting on July 22. The resolution also contained provisions to consider funding implications of the recently declared 'climate emergency'. WinZero, formed to inspire and lead the Wingecarribee community as a whole to be net zero emissions by 2050 (or before), will have an opportunity to present to council in relation to its plans to reduce emissions, and outline developing projects in areas such as energy, waste, regenerative landscapes, water and transport.

WinZero has received plenty of support and positive feedback following its recent launch

To achieve net zero carbon emissions in the Wingecarribee Shire by 2050, if not before- that's the goal. WinZero launched last week and already there has been plenty of community support. Co-convenor Derek White said following Extinction Rebellion's climate emergency march earlier this year, it was clear there were many groups in the region that wanted to "have a better environment in the Southern Highlands".
